Jacks Play Host as Carl Kight Invitational Starts Thursday

SFA welcomes in a heavy regional field featuring NCAA, NAIA & JUCO student-athletes
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Following weekend-opening outdoor action for Stephen F. Austin, the Jacks will enjoy Thursday and Friday at home as host of the Carl Kight Invitational from inside Homer Bryce Stadium. Student-athletes from 25 teams are set to compete over the two-day event.
Thursday's action begins at 9:15 a.m. with the start of the Heptathlon. The Decathlon is slated for a 10 a.m. start, while field events begin at 1 p.m. with first gun of the distance carnival firing at 6 p.m. Day two of multis starts with the Decathlon at 8:30 a.m., while the Heptathlon begins an hour later. The remaining field events are set for an 11:30 a.m. start, while running events are slated for a noon start.
The Jacks will honor 20 senior student-athletes across both teams on Friday at 4 p.m. Among the SFA men to be honored are Semion Brodski, Ayden Colbert, Kevin Curry, Riley Elliott, Robert Fuelle, Blake Hyatt, Zach McPhee, Bennett Meyer-Wills, Samuel Pavan, Victor Ramos, Nicolaus Ray and Bryson Williams. Timiejha Furlow, Jada Gibson, Reis Johnson, Faith Nze, Corlasia Scott, Kennedy Swann, Amirah Wooden and Garance Dubray are the SFA women that will be recognized prior to the running of the 4x400 events.
SFA's women's team logged a dozen point-scoring placements at the Clyde Hart Classic with Basia Mitchell responsible for a sixth-place finish in the long jump. Her mark of 5.98m (19' 7.5") stands as the sixth-longest jump in outdoor program history.
The SFA men earned 16 point-scoring finishes with six coming in the 1500m event. Paul Kiprotich bested the field in the 1500m to lead five other podium Jacks across the tape. Hunter Murphy landed 2.13m (6' 11 ¾") in the high jump to win the event. In the hammer throw, two Jacks posted top ten efforts all-time. Victor Ramos hit 57.62m (189') for the sixth-longest result in outdoor program history, while fellow thrower Kason Reed tossed 54.78m (179' 9") for the ninth-longest mark in the event in SFA's outdoor history.
Bryson Williams won the triple jump event at Baylor with a mark of 15.65m (51' 4.25"). Following the weekend, the mark was tied for the second-longest in the South Central Region and was seventh longest in the overall West Region.

The two-day meet will include competitors from fellow Southland Conference schools Houston Christian, Lamar, McNeese and Northwestern State. Fellow Lone Star state talent from Dallas Baptist, East Texas Baptist, Jacksonville College, LeTourneau, Nelson, North American, Ranger CC, Southwestern, Southwestern Christian College, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Texas College and Texas Wesleyan will also be in action, while Centenary, Harding, Hendrix, Little Rock, Louisiana, Loyola-New Orleans, Ouachita Baptist, Southern Arkansas and UA-Rich Mountain.
