
SFA Wraps Up Day One at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field teams opened up the Texas Relays Wednesday afternoon in Austin, Texas. SFA recorded four top-10 finishes on the first day of competition.
Sophomore Eric Brill led the Lumberjacks Wednesday night finishing third overall in section `B' of the steeplechase. Brill crossed the finish line with a time of 9:33.66. Junior Chance Edwards finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run with his time of 3:53.39. Senior Matt Albertson recorded a top-10 finish in the men's 10,000 when he recorded a time of 32:02.48 to place 10th overall.
Sophomore LaKoa McKeever was the top Ladyjack finisher in the women's 1,500 meters with her time of 4:43.55 to finish ninth overall. Junior Crystal Chang is sitting just outside the top 10 in the heptathlon after the first day of competition. She scored 2,986 points on the first day.
SFA will continue its competition at the Texas Relays Thursday beginning with the multi events. The decathlon will begin at 11 a.m., while the heptathlon is scheduled to get under way at noon.
