SFA Track and Field Finishes in Top Six at Rice

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team wrapped up competition in the Rice Bayou Classic Saturday afternoon. The Lumberjacks scored 56 points to finish fifth overall, while the Ladyjacks scored 46.5 points to finish sixth overall.
The `Jacks were led by junior Kenneth McKinley and sophomore Reggie Lazenby. McKinley won the shot put with his throw of 54-2.50. Lazenby won the long jump title recording a jump of 23-11.00.
McKinley also recorded a top-five finish in the discus, recording a throw of 162-6 to finish fourth overall just ahead of teammate Darwin Johnson (162-2). Johnson was fifth overall in the hammer with his throw of 155-02.
The Ladyjacks were led by junior Stevina Wyatt who crossed the finish line fourth in the 400-meters (55.46). Wyatt clocked a 14.33 in the 100-meter hurdles to finish third overall. The Ladyjacks placed two athletes in the top five of the women's high jump as freshman Audrey Azu and senior Teresa Murray tied for third, clearing a height of 5-5.00.
SFA returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Austin, Texas for the Texas Relays. The meet will run through Saturday Apr. 9.
