
SFA Track & Field Sweeps Dogwood Invitational

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team recorded a dominating performance as both team's won the Dogwood Invitational. The Lumberjacks recorded a 165.50-136 win over Northwestern State, while the Ladyjacks scored 152.5 points to win in a 10-team field.
Senior Teresa Murray, who recorded a school record and NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the high jump, led the Ladyjacks. Murray cleared a height of 5-10.75 to win the event. Sophomore Markeisha Edwards also had a big day winning the hammer throw (150-11) and the shot put (47-5.25). Junior Stevina Wyatt stepped up in the 400-meter hurdles to defeat teammate and two-time defending SLC champion Jocelyn Stevens with an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 1:00.40. Stevens was second in the event with a time of 1:00.48.
The Lumberjacks were led by sophomore Reggie Lazenby who took the long jump with his mark of 24-4.50. Daniel Williams led SFA in the steeplechase as he finished first with a time of 9:44.65. The `Jacks 4X100-meter relay team out-sprinted Northwestern State to the finish line with a time of 40.48.
SFA returns to action Saturday Apr. 23, when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas to compete in the TCU Invitational.
