NACOGDOCHES - In a season that has been marred by tough 4-3 setbacks, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team dropped another heartbreaker Thursday afternoon at the SFA Tennis Courts. The Ladyjacks put up a strong fight, but Sam Houston State escaped with a 4-3 victory as the Ladyjacks end the 2005 season with 6-14 (.300) overall record and a 1-9 (.100) Southland Conference mark.
SHSU swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. The Ladyjacks responded by picking up wins at the No. 5 and 6 positions as juniors Megan Langston and Kama Scott picked up the victories, respectively. But the Ladyjacks could muster only one win in the final four singles matches as SHSU held on for the win. Sophomore Laura Harrison picked up the Ladyjacks other singles win with her 7-6, 6-1, victory over Emma McDougall at No. 2 singles.
Scott finishes the season 21-9 (.700) overall and 15-5 (.750) during the spring.
