PLANO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin defender Kim Gray has been named the 2005 Hibernia Bank/Southland Conference Soccer Student-Athlete of the Year, SLC officials announced Tuesday. The selection makes the Ladyjack senior a four-time member of the Academic All-SLC team.
Gray is a marketing major with a 3.52 grade point average. Her performance in the classroom has earned her Academic All-SLC honors in each of her four years. She was a second-team selection her freshman year and earned the first-team nod in each of the last three seasons.
Gray was a co-captain and one of the leaders on a defense that posted a school-record 11 shutouts for the Southland Conference-champion Ladyjacks this season. She finished the year with five goals and one assist. The five goals ranked third on the team.
Over the course of her four-year career, Gray lent a hand in 32 team shutouts and helped lead the Ladyjacks to an overall record of 47-23-9. SFA captured two SLC regular-season championships and made the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Championships during Gray's tenure. She finished her Ladyjack career with 18 goals, fourth on the school's all-time list.
Jill Robison joined Gray on the academic all-conference team. Robison, a junior defender, played in all but one of SFA's games this year. The native of Alberta, Canada, who is majoring in physical therapy, has put together a 3.27 grade point average during her time at SFA.
