
SFA Volleyball Sweeps Louisiana-Monroe

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team won their 18th straight match when they swept the Louisiana-Monroe Lady Indians, 3-0, in Southland Conference action Tuesday in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
SFA cruised to a Game 1 win, 30-17, but the Lady Indians fought back and briefly took the lead in Game 2 before giving it up to the Ladyjacks who won, 30-27. Game 3 came with ease as SFA sailed to a 30-20 win to complete the sweep. It was the 14th sweep the Ladyjacks have completed this season.
On their way to their 17th SLC victory, freshman Lauren Railey had the second highest kills on the squad with 11 and led the team with 14 digs. It was her 13th double-double of the season.
Leading both squads in kills was junior Laura Cramer. She collected 12 kills and a .345 hitting percentage on the night. Sophomore JJ Jones dished out 35 assists and 12 digs. She also knocked down five kills.
Sophomores Jami Hill and Traci Rohde led both squads in service aces. Rohde collected five while Hill nabbed four. Rohde also led at the net with seven blocks.
Tuesday's match also marked the final home match for Ladyjack seniors, Jessica Watson, Lauren Stevens and Amelia Mayeaux. Watson finished the night with seven kills and a .389 hitting percentage and two total blocks.
The Ladyjacks will close out the regular season this weekend when they face Lamar and McNeese State. On Friday, SFA will travel to Beaumont to face Lamar at 7:30 p.m. The McNeese State match will begin at 5 p.m. in Lake Charles.
