NACOGDOCHES - Senior Lauren Stevens and freshman Lauren Railey led the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks to their 15th consecutive win and gave their head coach, Debbie Humphreys, her 400th career victory at SFA, when they defeated Texas-Arlington, 3-0, on Saturday at the William R. Johnson Coliseum in Southland Conference play.
SFA dominated the Lady Mavs with scores of 30-20, 30-19, and 30-21 on its way to its 14th SLC victory. The Ladyjacks hit .340 as a team while holding UTA to .107.
Four Ladyjacks collected double-digit kills with Railey nabbing a team-high 17. She added 12 digs to earn her 12th double-double of the season.
Stevens had 11 kills out of 20 total attacks with only one error for a hitting percentage of .500. Junior Laura Cramer had 15 kills and hit .316. Sophomore Traci Rohde had 10 kills on the night.
"Our outside hitters had a great night," said Humphreys. "They had big blockers all over them and they just did a great job."
Sophomore JJ Jones tossed up 52 assists, the most she's had in a three-game set this season. She also recorded 12 digs on the evening. Junior Stephanie Figgers had 22 digs on the night.
The victory moves the Ladyjacks to 22-2 overall and leaves them undefeated in conference play at 14-0.
"The kids are on a mission," said Humphreys about her team. "They are playing well, they're confident and they're relaxed and it's showing.
"Our focus is to continue to play well for the next three weeks so we can be ready come tournament time," she said.
The win moved Humphreys to a career record of 400-195 with a .671 winning percentage. However, it wasn't too long ago that she realized No. 400 was coming up.
"You don't think about it until someone says `you have 399 wins, the next is 400,'" said Humphreys. "It makes you look back and think about some really special people you've met along the way.
"They've earned the wins and it just makes you feel honored to be a part of that. All of them are a part of that," she said about her career milestone.
SFA will return to the court next Friday for an SLC showdown at Texas-San Antonio before heading to San Marcos on Saturday for a match with Texas State.
