PLANO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team made a clean sweep of the Aeropostale Southland Conference Players of the Week awards, league officials announced Tuesday. Freshman Amanda Alders was named offensive player of the week, senior Kim Gray took the defensive honors and senior Natascia Michalezki earned the nod at goalkeeper, marking the second time this season the Ladyjacks have come away with all three awards.
Alders scored a goal in each of SFA's weekend matches -- a 1-0 win over Northwestern State and a 3-0 victory against McNeese State. The freshman now has a league-leading 14 goals this season and has recorded at least one goal in each match of the Ladyjacks' current 10-game winning streak. This is the fourth time this season Alders has been named offensive player of the week.
Gray earned her fourth player of the week award for her weekend performance, which included two shutouts and a goal. Gray scored her fifth goal of the year -- tying her for second on the team -- in SFA's win against McNeese State. She also helped lead a defensive effort that limited its opposition to 23 shots in a pair of shutouts.
Michalezki was named goalkeeper of the week for the sixth time this season and the 15th time in her career after posting her eighth and ninth shutouts of the season. Michalezki recorded nine saves for the weekend, bringing her season total to 81. She has compiled a 12-3 record this season.
The Ladyjacks, who currently lead the Southland Conference with an undefeated 6-0 record (13-3-0, overall), will wrap up the regular season Friday when they travel to Monroe, La. to take on the Lady Indians. The contest is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
