PLANO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki was named Aeropostale Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the fifth time this season, conference officials announced Tuesday. The senior netminder has won the voting in all but three weeks this season.
Michalezki recorded her seventh shutout of the season and improved her record to 10-3 with wins over Sam Houston State and Centenary last weekend. The Calgary, Alberta native notched 12 saves -- seven in the Ladyjacks' 6-1 win over Sam Houston and five in SFA's 1-0 victory at Centenary -- while allowing just one goal in the weekend's matches.
Michalezki currently leads the league in goals against average (0.85), shutouts (7) and save percentage (.867). She has given up just two goals during the Ladyjacks' current eight-match winning streak.
SFA (11-3, 4-0) will put its win streak and undefeated conference record on the line Friday when the Ladyjacks host Northwestern State in a match that could decide the Southland Conference Championship. The two teams are currently tied atop the league standings. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
