
Cross Country Heads to Arkansas

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack cross country team will take a step up in competition level Saturday when it runs in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. The meet features some of the nation's top teams and will be the Ladyjacks' last competitive race before the Southland Conference championships on Oct. 31.
Included on the women's side of the 45-team collegiate field at the Chile Pepper meet are nationally ranked teams such as No. 12 Arkansas, No. 14 Baylor and No. 16 Oklahoma State. The Ladyjacks will also be mixing with notable programs like Alabama, California, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Nebraska, Oral Roberts and Tulsa.
SFA's last race was the Northwestern State Invitational on Oct. 3. The Ladyjacks won that meet and captured five of the top six positions, led by a first-place finish from Ashley Monteau.
The Ladyjacks competed in the Chile Pepper last season and ran to a 12th-place finish. Arkansas has won the Chile Pepper 10 times since the race's inception and the Lady Razorbacks have never finished lower than third.
