Ladyjacks Take Southland Honors

PLANO, Texas - Kim Gray and Amanda Alders were named to the Southland Conference Aeropostale Soccer Student Athlete of the Week list, league officials announced Tuesday. The Ladyjack soccer players were voted Defensive Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively. This week marks the third such honor for each player.
Gray, a senior defender, helped key a pair of SFA shutouts over the weekend. The Ladyjacks defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 3-0, and beat Nicholls State, 5-0. The Ladyjack defense allowed only 13 shots in the two matches combined, and Gray notched a goal and an assist in the win over Nicholls.
Alders scored two goals in each contest, marking her second and third multi-goal matches of the season. The freshman forward's 10 goals this season lead the team.
The Ladyjacks (9-3, 3-0) return to action Friday when they host Sam Houston in a 7 p.m. match. SFA will then travel to Shreveport, La. on Sunday for a non-conference match against Centenary.
