The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team dropped its second-straight Southland Conference volleyball match Friday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum, falling to Texas State, 3-1 (27-20, 30-21, 30-24, 30-28). The Ladyjacks are now 7-3 (.700) on the season and 0-2 in league action.
SFA grabbed an early 1-0 behind junior Lauren Stevens' 16 kills. Sophomore Laura Cramer added 12 kills and 16 digs as the Ladyjacks took game one, 30-27. Texas State kept the momentum in game three behind Elizabeth Nwoke's match-high 19 kills as the Bobcats to a 2-1 lead over SFA.
After falling behind, 17-8, in the fourth game the Ladyjacks rallied to take a two-point lead, 20-18 behind sophomore Stephanie Figgers solid serving. Figgers recorded a match-high five service aces but it wasn't enough as the Ladyjacks dropped their second-straight SLC match.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday afternoon when they return to the William R. Johnson Coliseum to face Texas-San Antonio. The match against the Roadrunners is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
