
Ladyjacks Drop SLC Opener

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball suffered only its second loss of the season Friday night as Nicholls State defeated SFA, 3-1 (30-28, 30-26, 21-30, 30-19), at Shelton Gym. The Ladyjacks are now 7-2 overall and 0-1 in Southland Conference play.
The Lady Colonels jumped out to a 2-0 game lead over SFA behind Brenda Ross' team-high 14 kills. SFA fought its way back into the match winning game three easily, 30-21, behind senior Brittany Burton's match-high 20 kills. Junior Lauren Stevens added 10 kills for SFA but it wasn't enough as NSU recorded its first victory of the season.
The Ladyjacks will return to action Friday Sept. 24, to take on Texas State. The match against the Bobcats is set to begin at 7 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
