
Lumberjack Qualifies for U.S. Olympic Trials

NACOGDOCHES - Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack DeVaughn Rettig has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the triple jump. The meet will be Thursday July 8th through Sunday July 18th, in Sacramento, Calif., at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.
Rettig qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials with his mark of 52-6.75 at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships, but he has also recorded a wind-aided mark of 53-0.75 this season.
The U.S. Olympic Trials will consist of the top 24 athletes in every event. Rettig is currently tied for 23rd in the country.
Rettig is a four-time All-Southland Conference athlete and finished 20th at the NCAA Championships in the triple jump in June.
