
Thompson Finishes 15th At NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas -- Mike Thompson closed out his 2004 track season with a 15th place showing at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 3000-meter steeplechase Thursday night. Thompson ran a 9:03.15 to finish in the middle of the pack in the event. The time is a new school record. Thompson is the first male runner to advance to the NCAA's from SFA.
Last fall, Thompson helped the Lumberjack cross country team to its third straight SLC title and went on to compete at the NCAA National Cross Country meet in November.
DeVaughn Rettig will compete Friday night in the men's triple jump which is scheduled to bet underway at 8:30 p.m. Ana Rodriguez will run in the women's 5000-meter run Saturday night at 8:55 p.m.
