
SFA Qualifies Third Athlete for NCAAs

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team concluded the 2004 NCAA Regional Championships Saturday afternoon in College Station, Texas. Senior Mike Thompson was the third SFA athlete to advance to the NCAA Championships with his fifth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Thompson recorded a time of 9:09.92 late Saturday night in the event.
Freshman Darwin Johnson also competed for SFA Saturday in the discus. He finished his rookie season with a throw of 165-06.
Thomspon will join teammates DeVaughn Rettig and Ana Rodriguez at the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 9th through June 12th in Austin, Texas.
