
Jasen Gast Earns Second Straight All-Academic Honor

NACOGDOCHES, Texas-- Lumberjack senior Jasen Gast was among five Southland Conference men's basketball players named to the 2004 Southland Conference All-Academic team in a release from the Southland Conference today.
The all-academic teams, voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators, honor student-athletes who have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average while serving as a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing within the institution and must have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution.
The student-athlete of the year is annually presented to the individual in each conference sport who achieves excellence in academics, athletics and community/campus service. Nominees shall have earned at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average to go along with superior athletics achievement.
Gast, a senior with a 3.19 GPA in international business, scored a career-high 22 points in a win over Louisiana-Monroe as he helped lead SFA to back-to-back 20-win seasons. He started 24 games, averaging 8.4 points and 2.9 rebounds. He is a member of the SFA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has been on the school's Dean's List.
