
Marc Farris Wins Title at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team kicked off the 2004 Texas Relays Wednesday afternoon and recorded some strong finishes. Sophomore Marc Farris won the 10,000 meters with his time of 31:30.23. Farris outpaced teammate Matt Albertson, who crossed the finish line with a time of 31:59.08 to finish sixth overall.
Farris' victory in the 10,000 meters marked the second consecutive year that a Lumberjack has won the event at the Texas Relays (Julian Acuna - 2003).
Sophomore Chance Edwards recorded a time of 3:54.67 in the 1,500-meter run. Edwards' time was good enough to place him third overall.
SFA returns to action Thursday morning with the second and final day of competition in the decathlon. The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
