Crystal Chang Wins Heptathlon

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The second day of the Texas A&M Multis and Relays produced good results for the Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team Friday afternoon. Sophomore Crystal Chang scored 4,936 points to win the heptathlon. The Lumberjacks Bo Simpson scored 6,370 points to finish fourth in the decathlon.
Chang was impressive in the 800-meter run, winning the race with a time of 2:20.18 to seal her victory in the heptathlon. Chang finished just ahead of teammate Lindsey Bryson in the 800 meters who crossed the finish line second with a time of 2:25.84. Bryson battled through injuries to finish 12th in the heptathlon with a score of 4,154 points.
Simpson had a strong final day of competition in the decathlon. He finished second in three events to wrap up the fourth place finish. Simpson recorded a second-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (15.50), the discus throw (123-5) and the javelin (170-03).
SFA returns to action Saturday morning for the final day of competition in the Texas A&M Multis and Relays.
