HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Houston Indoor Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Bill Yeoman Field House in Houston, Texas.
Freshman Ashley Monteau led the Ladyjacks in the women's 3,000-meter run posting a time of 10:02.47 to finish second overall. Monteau's time was good enough to set a new school record. Senior Jennifer Schreiner finished in a six-way tie for fourth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 11-7.75. Sophomore Crystal Chang finished fourth in the women's long jump section "B." Chang recorded a jump of 17-2.00 to earn top-five honors. Junior Jocelyn Stevens tied the SFA record in the 60-meter hurdles when she recorded a time of 8.81 in the finals.
The Lumberjacks were led by senior Mike Thompson recorded a time of 4:14.52 in the mile run to finish third overall. Senior DeVaughn Rettig finished fifth in the triple jump with his mark of 47-6.25.
The SFA men and women's track and field team returns to action Friday Feb. 20th, when they will travel back to Houston, Texas, for the Southland Conference Championships. The meet will run through Saturday Feb. 21st.
