NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Antonio Burks led the Lumberjacks (14-4, 5-2) with 15 points as SFA rallied from a 10-point first half deficit to beat UT-San Antonio (9-12, 4-4) 69-60 Wednesday night in the coliseum. The win was the 26th straight for SFA at home.
Burks was joined in double figures by B.J. Banks and Dedrick Sanders with 12 each and Marcus Clark added 11. All six of Clark's second half points came at the free throw line.
UT-San Antonio was on fire early as the Roadrunners connected on their first eight three-point attempts in the game. The hot shooting enabled the 'Runners to build an early lead and stretch that lead to as many as 10 points with 5:48 left in the first half of play. The 'Jacks then trimmed the lead back to four points at 34-30 with 1:26 to play and had a chance to cut the lead further but misfired in the closing moments of the first half.
The Roadrunners ended the first half shooting .480 (12-25) from the field and .727 (8-11) from beyond the three point arc. The 'Jacks managed only .345 (10-29) for the first half from the field, but the tides turned over the final 20 minutes of play.
SFA connected on 11 of 25 (.440) and was also 4-9 (.444) from outside in the second half while UTSA shot .333 (6-18) from the field. The Roadrunners were only 2-7 (.286) from beyond the arc after the torrid start. The 'Jacks outscored the Roadrunners 39-24 in the second half.
LeRoy Hurd and Raphael Posey led UT-San Antonio with 15 points each.
