
SFA Track & Field Prepares for SLC Meet

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team returns to Houston, Texas this week to compete in the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The SLC Championships will begin Friday morning and run through Saturday afternoon. The meet gets under way Friday at 9 a.m. with the heptathlon and the pentathlon. The field events will get started at 3 p.m., Friday with the women's shot put, while the track events are slated to begin at 4 p.m., with the women's 60-meter hurdles.
School Records: The Ladyjacks have set two school records during the indoor season. Freshman Ashley Monteau set the school record in the 3,000-meter run with her time of 10:02.47. Junior Jocelyn Stevens tied the school record in the 60-meter hurdles with her time of 8.81.
A Look at the Ladyjacks/Lumberjacks: The Ladyjacks return two conference individual champions and six All-Southland Conference athletes from the 2003 squad, while the SFA men also return two individual champions and six all-conference athletes from last year's team.
Recapping the 2003 SLC Meet: The Ladyjacks finished second at the 2003 SLC Indoor Championships, falling to Southwest Texas (now Texas State), 110-105. The Lumberjacks scored 48 points to finish sixth last season.
Up Next... The SFA men and women's track and field team will return to action Friday Mar. 5th, when they travel to Baton Rouge, La., to compete in the LSU Last Chance Meet.
