
Four Ladyjacks Earn Academic All-SLC Honors

PLANO, Texas - Senior Christie Mestayer, juniors Kim Gray and Jaime Ronca and sophomore Shahin Pabani were named to 2004 Academic All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Thursday afternoon. Gray, Mestayer and Pabani were first-team selections and Ronca was named to the second-team.
Gray is a two-time first-team All-Southland Conference selection as a defender. She finished among the team leaders in goals despite her defensive position and helped guide SFA to its first regular-season conference crown since 1998. Gray also earned league defensive player of the week honors on Sept. 28.
Pabani was a first-team all-conference selection in 2004 after leading the league in scoring and finished second with 15 goals. Her 15 goals tied an SFA single-season record. Pabani was named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 2.
Mestayer had a career year in 2004 earning first-team All-SLC honors after being among the league leaders in points and leading the conference, and setting a new SFA single-season record with 11 assists. Mestayer was named SLC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19.
Ronca was another member of the Ladyjacks overwhelming defense. The Ladyjacks' defense recorded five shutouts in 2004 and surrendered only one goal six times. Ronca finished the season earning honorable mention all-conference honors.
