Joseph Named SLC Student-Athlete of the Year

PLANO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore distance runner Rodney Joseph (Decatur, Texas) was named 2004 Southland Conference Male Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year announced league officials Wednesday afternoon. The award is given to athletes based on the athletic and academic accomplishments as well as their accomplishments in the community.
Joseph has been a member of two Southland Conference champion teams. He earned All-SLC honors this past season, finishing fifth overall with a time of 24:56.02 at the conference championships. The Lumberjacks won their fourth consecutive league title this past season.
Joseph has also been named to the President's List and is a two-time Dean's List selection for his success in the classroom. He also serves on the SFA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
