Basketball Works Toward Season Opener

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Danny Kaspar says he is pleased with the way practice has gone so far for the Lumberjacks as his team prepares for its Nov. 20 season opener at South Florida.
"I've been very pleased with many aspects of the team thus far. We do need for some of the junior college transfers to pick up the pace with which they are learning because they are going to play an integral part of any success we have this year," said Kaspar.
Anthony Paez, Justin Thomas and Jerry Cheves are the three junior college transfers on the roster this season. All three could fill huge roles for the 'Jacks in 2004-05 as SFA looks to replace five seniors gone from last year's 21-9 team.
Kaspar also said he is pleased so far with the play of returners Marcus Clark, Taylor Moore, Josh Porter and Leonard Brown.
SFA plays its only exhibition game of the year Nov. 11 in the coliseum. The 'Jacks will host Midwestern State at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
