AMES, Iowa -- Josh Porter scored a game high 17 points Friday night for the Lumberjacks, but didn't have much help as SFA fell to Bucknell 62-49 in the opening game of the American Family Insurance Cyclone Challenge in Ames, Iowa.
The 'Jacks committed 18 turnovers and were outscored 27-10 in points off turnovers for the game as Bucknell moved to 3-2 on the year and SFA fell to 1-2. Bucknell also dominated play inside outscoring the Lumberjacks 26-12 in points in the paint. Chris McNaughton led the Bison with 16 points and was 6-10 from the field. Most of his points came from underneath the basket.
Marcus Clark played all 40 minutes in the game, but scored only two points on a one of three shooting night. He did dish out six assists against four turnovers. Leonard Brown played 12 minutes on an aching knee, scoring four points without an assist.
Porter finished the night with 17 points on 7-14 from the field, including a 3-5 night from beyond the three point arc. Patrick Hannaway added eight points and pulled down three rebounds.
Rodrigo Segantim led the Lumberjacks on the boards with seven rebounds while Taylor Moore came off the bench to add five. Hank Rivers played only 13 minutes after starting and did not pick up a rebound while scoring four points.
SFA was outrebounded 27-25 for the game. The 'Jacks ended the night shooting .452 from the field (19-42) and were 4-8 from outisde the three point line.
