NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack track and field team added Heather Adams (Forth Worth, Texas), Kelsea David (Harlingen, Texas) and Ashley Glasper (Round Rock, Texas) to their roster announced SFA head coach Phil Olson Tuesday afternoon.
"I am very happy with these three young ladies we signed in the early period," said Olson. "They fit very well into our team philosophy, as well as showing an eye-opening level of ability going into their senior season. Each of them are good students, are committed to being successful student-athletes and have really embraced the Ladyjack family. This is a great beginning to our signing class for the 2004-05 season."
Adams will compete with the Ladyjacks distance and cross country teams. She comes to Nacogdoches after a strong prep career at Castleberry High School. Adams finished among the top 10 at the 2003 and 2004 3A state cross country meet. She was also the state runner-up in the 3,200 meters at the 2003 and 2004 state track and field championships.
David is a pole vaulter from Harlingen who has recorded a personal best of 12'5. She is a two-time regional qualifier at the 5A level who won her division at the Texas Relays last season. In 2003, David competed at the USATF Junior Nationals recording a seventh-place finish. David ran cross country at Harlingen and was the 2003 district champion.
Glasper comes to SFA from Stony Point High School where she was the Region II-5A runner-up and advanced the state championships. Glasper won the district 14-5A title in 2004 and has recorded a personal best of 44-6.00. She will compete in the shot put, hammer and discus at SFA.
