NACOGDOCHES - For the second consecutive season, the Stephen F. Austin cross country team will be sending two athletes to the NCAA Championships. This year SFA will be sending one male and one female athlete to the meet as junior Julian Acuna qualified for the Lumberjacks and sophomore Ashley Monteau advanced on the women's side. It will be the first trip to the NCAA Cross Country Championships for both athletes.
Acuna led the Lumberjacks to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships. He finished ninth overall (30:26) to earn all-region honors and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA meet.
Monteau earned all-region honors on the women's side as she finished 11th overall with a time of 21:02. Monteau guided the Ladyjacks to a seventh-place overall finish, which was the best finish of any Southland Conference school.
The NCAA Championships will take place Monday Nov. 22, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center, in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. (Eastern time) followed by the men's race at 12:15 p.m.
