Lumberjacks Finish Strong at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's cross country teams competed at the Chile Pepper Invitational Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, Ark. The Lumberjacks scored 194 points to finish sixth, while the Ladyjacks finished 12th with 333 points.
"We took a good step in the right direction this afternoon," said cross country coach Lou Snelling. "I think we have positioned ourselves real well to achieve our goals over the next few weeks."
The Lumberjacks were led by Marc Farris who crossed the finish line 18th with a time of 30:42.3. SFA's Cody Clark was only 20.8 second back of Farris to finish 51st overall. Rodney Joseph was the third Lumberjack to cross the finish line as her recorded a time of 31:12.6 to finish 89th overall. Chance Edwards was the fourth Lumberjack to cross the finish line, less than two seconds back of Joseph to finish 128th overall (31:14.0). Senior Matt Albertson was the final Lumberjack to score for SFA finishing 194th overall to record a time of 31:56.6.
The Ladyjacks were led by sophomore Ashley Monteau who finished the race 11th overall with a time of 21:08.04. Senior Emily Hufstedler was the second Ladyjack to cross the finish line with a time of 22:51.0 to finish 74th overall. Freshman Savannah Matzinger was the third Ladyjack to cross the finish line. Matzinger was 82nd overall with time of 22:58.9. Amber Bagwell was the fourth scorer for SFA as she finished the meet 92nd overall with a time of 23:11.9. Senior Jessica Partin closed out the scoring for SFA with her 104th-place finish. Partin crossed the finish line with a time of 23:21.1.
SFA will return to action Monday November 1, when they travel to Beaumont, Texas, to compete in the Southland Conference Championships.
