
SFA Soccer Ties Louisiana-Monroe

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team battled back to tie Louisiana-Monroe, 1-1, Friday night at the SFA Intramural Complex. The Ladyjacks are now 8-4-2 (.643) overall and 6-1-1 (.813) in Southland Conference play.
The Lady Indians took a 1-0 lead when ULMs Kortney Harris scored the game's first goal at 62:53. But ULM goalkeeper Rachel Marcom could only make the lead stand for 14 minutes as the Ladyjacks fought right back to tie the game. Senior Christie Mestayer scored the Ladyjacks' lone goal on a free kick from 25 yards out to tie the game. The game went into double overtime but neither team could score a goal in the extra period.
SFA goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki finished the night with eight saves in the game.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when they face Northwestern State at 2 p.m.
