NACOGDOCHES - It only took the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team one hour and 14 minutes to shutout Northwestern State, 3-0 (30-19, 30-15, 30-22) at the William R. Johnson Coliseum Friday night. The Ladyjacks are now 13-5 (.722) overall and 5-3 (.625) in Southland Conference play.
It was over almost as quickly as it got started as senior Brittany Burton had a huge night recorded a match-high 24 kills (.528) attack percentage. Burton led SFA to a season-high .347 attack percentage, as the Ladyjacks never gave Northwestern State a chance to find its rhythm.
SFA was also dominant on defensively holding the Lady Demons to an .098 attack percentage. The Ladyjacks also forced Northwester State into six service errors and 11 reception errors as the Ladyjacks won their fifth-straight match.
Senior Deborah Kirkham also had a big night for SFA as she recorded eight kills with no errors. She finished the night with a .533 attack percentage. Sophomore Laura Cramer led the Ladyjacks with 15 digs, while freshman JJ Jones led all players with her 41 assists.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday when they close out their four-match homestand against Louisiana-Monroe. The match against the Lady Indians is slated to begin at 4 p.m., in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
