MONROE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team places unbeaten Southland Conference record on the line tonight as they travel to Monroe, La., to take on the Lady Indians at 7 p.m.. The Ladyjacks enter the game with a 5-3-1 (.611) overall record and are a perfect 3-0-0 in the league. The Lady Indians are 7-2-1 (.750) on the season and tied for second in the SLC with a 2-1-0 (.667) mark. The Ladyjacks are currently on a roll, winning their last four games, outscoring their opponents, 20-4, during that stretch. The Ladyjacks will be in Natchitoches, La., on Sunday to face Northwestern State. The game against the Lady Demons is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
Player of the Week Honors The Ladyjacks swept the Player of the Week honors last week winning all three of the league contests, including a 5-0 shutout of defending SLC regular-season champion Southeastern Louisiana. Senior Sophia Pantazis was named SLC Offensive Player of the Week for scoring five goals. Juniors Kim Gray and Natascia Michalezki were named SLC Defensive and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively.
Super Sophomore Sophomore Shahin Pabani was another Ladyjack that was up for league player of the week honors last week. Pabani had a great week, tying Pantazis with a team-high five goals in the three games. Pabani also added an assist. Pabani has scored eight goals this season to lead the Ladyjacks. Pabani's five goals and one assist from last week equaled her offensive output from her rookie season.
