Moore Leads SFA In Win

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Taylor Moore posted his second straight double-double Saturday night as SFA came from behind to beat Lyon College 65-53, in the coliseum. The win moved the 'Jacks to 9-2 on the year and also extended SFA's home court winning streak to 21 straight games. Moored led all scorers with 17 points and also pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.
The 'Jacks jumped out to a 9-0 lead with about three minutes gone in the first half of play only to see Lyon College (8-5) storm back on a 10-0 run to take a 10-9 lead. The teams traded buckets for a time before Lyon College took the lead at 29-26 on a three pointer by Brandon Byrd with 1:29 to go in the first half. The Scots carried a three point lead into the half, leading 31-28.
SFA shut down the Scots in the second half of play holding them to only a .280 field goal percentage in the second half of play and limiting the Scots to only seven field goals over the final 20 minutes of play. The 'Jacks meanwhile got their act together connecting on 12 of 23 field goal attempts over the second half and outscoring the Scots 37-22.
Joining Moore in double figures were Antonio Burks with 15 points and Marcus Clark with 13. Clark had 11 of his 13 points in the second half of play.
SFA opens Southland Conference play Thursday night travelling to Natchitoches, La. to take on Northwestern State in the conference opener for both teams. Game time is set for 7:45 p.m.
