
SFA Track & Field Heads to Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams will be in Baton Rouge, La., Friday to compete in the Bayou Bengal Invitational. The Bayou Bengal Invitational will consist of an 11-team field, including host LSU, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southeren Mississippi, SFA and Texas A&M. Field events will get under way at 3 p.m., with the women's weight throw. The track events will get started at 6 p.m., with the men's distance medley relay. The meet will take place in the LSU Fieldhouse.
League Leaderboard: The Lumberjacks have eight athletes among the Southland's Conference's top five in their respective events through the first two weeks of the season. Alex Harris is currently fourth in the 60-meter dash (6.93) and fifth in the 200 meters (22.49). Reggie Lazenby is fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.16). Chance Edwards is currently fourth in the Southland Conference in the mile with his time of 4:23.42. Nathan Flores has recorded the top time in the conference in the 5,000 meters with a mark of 15:22.21. Teammates Matt Albertson (15:43.71) and Marc Farris (15:46.68) are currently third and fourth, respectively in the conference. Senior Paul Todd has recorded the third-best mark in the high jump (6-7.50) while freshman James Williams is currently fourth in the league with a toss of 51-11.25 in the shot put. The Ladyjacks have 10 athletes ranked among the league's top five in their respective events. Jocelyn Stevens is third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.88) while freshman Leah Matthews (8.99) is fifth in the league. Stevina Wyatt is currently second in the conference with her time of 58.90 in the 400 meters. Ana Rodriguez is second in the SLC in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:12.39, while teammate Ashley Monteau is fourth (18:47.73). Teresa Murray and Jocelyn Stevens are tied for second in the high jump (5-4.25). Freshman Markeisha Edwards is fourth in the shot put with her mark of 43-00.25. Senior Jennifer Schreiner is second in the pole vault (11-9.75). The Ladyjacks 1,600-meter relay is currently fifth in the league with its time of 4:03.97.
