
Lumberjacks Finish Second at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday. The Lumberjacks scored 77 points to finish second. The Ladyjacks scored 182 points to finish seventh.
The Lumberjacks did a good job of packing their top four runners together within 15 seconds of each other. Mike Thompson led SFA men with his ninth-place finish. Thompson crossed the line with a time of 25:31. Sophomore Marc Farris was only two seconds off Thompson's pace crossing the line 11th overall. Rodney Joseph was the third Lumberjack to cross the finish line (25:39), followed by Cody Clark (25:46). Sophomore Julian Acuna closed out the scoring for SFA with his 35th-place finish. Acuna recorded a time of 26:15.
The Ladyjacks were led by 2002 SLC Female Athlete of the Year Ana Rodriguez. Rodriguez finished the race 20th overall with her time of 22:56. Freshman Julie Kole was the second Ladyjack to cross the finish line, recording a 33rd-place finish (23:34). Juniors Jessica Partin and Emily Hufstedler finished back-to-back as Partin crossed the line 50th overall with a time of 23:41. Hufstedler was two seconds back of Partin. Vicky Jannise closed out the scoring for the Ladyjacks with her 77th-place finish. She recorded a time of 24:19.
The SFA cross country teams return to action Saturday Oct. 4th at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.
