
Ladyjacks Fall to Rice

HOUSTON, Texas - The Rice Owls recorded 18 total blocks and a .270 attack percentage to beat SFA, 3-0 (30-21, 30-24, 30-23) Tuesday night in volleyball. The Ladyjacks are now 1-3 (.250) on the season.
Rice jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind Lindsey Carter and Rebeca Pazo who recorded 11 kills each for the Owls. The Ladyjacks' offense struggled at times recording a .106 attack percentage. Sophomore Brittany Burton (Livingston, Texas) recorded a team-high 11 kills (.292 attack percentage) for SFA. Rice won the match with their 30-23 victory in the third game.
Freshman Lauren Adams (Katy, Texas) led all players with her 37 assists. Junior Deborah Kirkham (Houston, Texas) and freshman Stephanie Figgers (Katy, Texas) finished the match with a team-high 14 digs.
The Ladyjacks return to Nacogdoches to open the home portion of their schedule Friday in the SFA Invitational. The two-day event will consist of SFA, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas-Pan American and Tulsa. The matches will be played in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. Admission is free to students.
