Ladyjacks Fall to McNeese State

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team lost to McNeese State, 3-1 (30-24, 18-30, 35-33, 30-24) Friday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks are 4-9 overall and 0-2 in the Southland Conference.
McNeese State took an early 1-0 lead in a hard fought game. Sophomore Marquita Williams led the Cowgirl attack with her match-high 20 kills. But the Ladyjacks fought right back to tie the match at 1, behind sophomore Amelia Mayeaux's 14 kills and match-high eight blocks. Classmate Lauren Stevens added 13 kills. But it wasn't enough as McNeese State stole the momentum back in game three winning 35-33. Junior Brittany Burton recorded 11 kills but it wasn't enough as the Cowgirls won game four and the match.
Junior Deborah Kirkham carded 10 kills and senior Julie Goodson recorded a match-high 19 digs.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday to face Lamar. The match is slated to get underway at 4 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
