
Two Ladyjacks Receive National Honor

PEORIA, Ill. - Junior Blake Gordon (Gladewater, Texas) and freshman Sarah Emerson (LaSalle, Ontario) were named to the United States Track Coaches Association All-Academic team announced USTCA officials Wednesday afternoon.
The award recognizes those student-athletes that excel both in competition as well as in the classroom. The student-athletes were also required to maintain a 3.0 grade-point average.
Gordon was a two-time SLC individual champion and a three-time All-Southland Conference honoree in 2003, winning the outdoor title in the shot put and discus. Gordon also set the school record in the discus with her throw of 170-2.00. She concluded her junior season with a 21st -place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Emerson was one of the best young javelin throwers in the SLC. Emerson earned all-conference honors with her runner-up finish in the javelin (157-04). Emerson wrapped-up her rookie season as one of the top 13 javelin throwers in the region.
