
Blake Gordon Finishes 21st at the NCAAs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack track and field team opened the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday with the women's discus throw. Junior Blake Gordon earned an automatic berth in the championship meet with her fourth-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Gordon recorded a throw of 150-05 on her second attempt to finish 21st in the nation. Gordon's 21st-place finish ends a junior campaign that saw Gordon win two Southland Conference individual titles, earn All-Southland Conference honors three times and receive the Southland Conference Track and Field Female Student-Athlete of the Year award. Gordon also guided the Ladyjacks to their first-ever SLC team title at the 2003 outdoor conference championships.
Junior Ana Rodriguez will take to the track Wednesday evening in the preliminary round of the women's 5,000 meters. The race is slated to get underway at 9:20 p.m.
