
Blake Gordon Qualifies for NCAA Championships

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team closed out the NCAA Midwest Regional Saturday with a strong final day of competition. The Ladyjacks scored 12 points to finish 20th overall in the standings.
Junior Blake Gordon scored five points in the discus with her fourth-place finish (167-10). Her mark was good enough to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship meet. Sophomore Shametra Boykins followed up that performance with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump. Boykins' mark of 42-6.75 scored three points in the team standings for SFA and set a new school record. Classmate Jocelyn Stevens recorded a personal best of 59.89 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish seventh. Her mark was good enough to establish a new SFA record. The Ladyjacks' 4X400-meter relay team finished 19th with a time of 3:57.18.
Junior Mike Thompson recorded a top-10 finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 9:05.99. Freshman Kenneth McKinley recorded a 19th-place finish in the javelin with his throw of 184-8.
