Lumberjack Earns League Honor

PLANO, Texas - Junior Alex Beckworth was named the Southland Conference Athlete of the Week announced league officials Tuesday afternoon. Beckworth pulled off track and field's version of a hat trick Saturday at the Dogwood Invitational, winning three individual titles. He also recorded one NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
Beckworth won the long jump with his NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 24-1.00. He followed that up by dominating the hurdle events winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.35 and the 400-meter hurdles, cross the finish line with a time of 52.96.
Beckworth is the first Lumberjack to receive the honor during the 2003 outdoor season.
SFA returns to action Saturday at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
