
SFA Opens Outdoor Season at Texas A&M

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team kicks off the 2003 outdoor season Thursday in College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Multis and Relays. The meet will start Thursday at 10 a.m., with the multi events. Field events will begin Saturday at 11 a.m., with the men and women's long jump. Track events will begin at noon with the women's steeplechase. The meet will consist of 20 teams including tournament-host Texas A&M, Angelo State, Baylor, Houston, Kansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Maryland, McMurry, Montana, Montana State, Nebraska, Nicholls State, North Texas, Northwestern State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, Tennessee, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas-Arlington, Utah State and Wichita State.
The Ladyjacks are coming off an indoor season that saw them record a second-place finish at the Southland Conference Championships, finishing only five points behind Southwest Texas. The Lumberjacks finished sixth at the SLC meet during the indoor season led by two individual titles (Nate Flores and Justin Meier).
The SFA track and field teams return to action Friday March 28th, when they travel to Houston, Texas, for the Rice Invitational. The meet will run through Saturday.
