
Jacks Suffer First Loss Of Year To TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Marcus Shropshire scored a career-high 17 points Monday night to lead TCU to an 84-62 victory over Stephen F. Austin. The loss snapped a four game winning streak to open the season by the Lumberjacks.
Shropshire came off the bench to hit 5 of 7 field goals, including all three of his 3-pointers, and all four of his free throws for the Horned Frogs (2-4). Blake Adams and Corey Valsin each had 12 points for TCU and Corey Santee added 10.
TCU shot 60 percent from the field for the game and 87 percent from 3-point range. Stephen F. Austin (4-1) shot 35 percent from the field. TCU had its best shooting night of the year and the 'Jacks suffered through their worst night of the year from the field.
TCU took advantage of Stephen F. Austin turnovers, converting 17 turnovers into 30 points.
Antonio Burks led the Lumberjacks with 19 points, including 15 off of 3-pointers. Dedrick Sanders added 11.
TCU led 47-34 at the half, the first time this season SFA has trailed at the break. The 'Jacks cut the lead back to only four points at 58-54 with 9:56 to play, but managed only eight points over the rest of the game. Antonio Burks three pointer with 6:47 to play was the last field goal of the night for SFA.
The Lumberjacks return to action Thursday night in Shreveport, La, against Centenary.
