
SFA Signs Pole Vaulter

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack track and field team added Madeline Bowles to its roster announced SFA head track and field coach Phil Olson Saturday afternoon.
Bowles is a pole vaulter who won back-to-back TAPPS state titles for T.K. Gorman High School. Bowles was undefeated in the pole vault as a junior and has recorded a personal record of 12 feet. Bowles is a versatile athlete who led her high school team to the 2003 state title. She also competed in the long jump, triple jump, 800-meter relay and the 1,600-meter relay at T.K. Gorman.
"Madeline is a young lady who will be an asset to our team," said SFA head coach Phil Olson. "She is the type of athlete who can come in and have an immediate impact. We are excited to have Madeline joining our squad in 2004."
The SFA track and field team kicks off the 2004 indoor season Friday Jan. 23rd at the Leonard Hilton Invitational in Houston, Texas.
