NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball coach Danny Kaspar has announced the signing of Scott Weaver of Carrollton, Texas to a national letter of intent to play basketball and continue his education at SFA next year. Weaver becomes the first student-athlete to sign with the Lumberjacks during the November early signing period.
"We are very happy to have Scott Weaver join our program. He is a skilled player that fills a need for us at the power forward position. His enthusiasm for our program is a big plus, and I am looking forward to working with him next season," said Kaspar.
A 6-8 power forward at Hebron High School, Weaver enters his senior season as a three year letterwinner and two year starter for coach Mark Bishop. He helped Hebron to the district title last season as a junior, and is a two-time all-district selection. He also was named to the All-Denton County Team as a junior.
He averaged 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game last season and averaged 11.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore in 2001-02. Weaver is ranked among the top 35 seniors in the state according to Mike Kunstadt's Texas Basketball Review.
