
Ladyjacks Escape Huntsville With a Win

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team rolled into Huntsville, Texas, Friday night and knocked off the rival Bearkats, 3-0 (31-29, 22-30, 30-23, 30-21). The Ladyjacks finish the regular season with a 19-12 (.613) overall record and a 15-5 (.750) league mark. The Ladyjacks will enter the Southland Conference Championships as the league's No. 2 seed and will receive a first-round bye.
The Ladyjacks won the first game, 31-29, but had to come from behind for the win. Junior Brittany Burton led the way with 14 kills. Burton recorded a double-double on the night adding 10 digs.
The Bearkats rallied to win game two and were leading in game three when SFA made another charge. Sophomore Lauren Stevens led the way to the game three victory, 30-23, with her 12 kills (.303 attack percentage). SFA finished off Sam Houston State, 30-21, in the fourth and final game behind Laura Cramer's 12 kills and five blocks.
Sophomore Amelia Mayeaux added nine kills and a team-high eight blocks. Senior Melissa Bullion led the Ladyjacks with 47 assists.
The Ladyjacks will return to action Saturday Nov. 22nd, in the Southland Conference Championships. SFA will receive a first-round bye in the tournament.
