SFA Volleyball Eliminated in Semifinals

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Despite 19 kills and 10 digs from junior Brittany Burton, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team was defeated by Nicholls State, 3-2 (18-30, 30-20, 31-29, 20-30, 15-8). The Ladyjacks finish the season 19-13 overall.
The Ladyjacks won the first game, 30-18, over the sixth-seeded Lady Colonels as junior Deborah Kirkham struck for 14 kills and a team-high six blocks. But the Lady Colonels fought back to win the next two games to take a 2-1 lead. SFA forced a fifth game as Laura Cramer and Lauren Steven each added 11 kills, but it wasn't enough as Nicholls State won the fifth game, 15-8, behind Caley Carter's 19 kills.
The Ladyjacks finish the season being eliminated in the semifinals of the SLC Championships for the second consecutive season.
