Lumberjacks Ease To 74-56 Win In Exhibition Opener

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks cruised to a 74-56 win over the National Basketball Express Thursday night behind a game high 18-points from senior Antonio Burks. The Texarkana, Arkansas senior also pulled down a game high nine rebounds in 19 minutes of action.
SFA trailed only once in the game as former Lumberjack Percy Green scored the first basket of the night for the Express. The 'Jacks then got a three pointer from Marcus Clark at the 17:57 mark to take a lead they never relinquished.
Former Sam Houston State standout Seneca Wall led the Express with 17 points, going 5-14 from the floor. He was the only member of the Express in double figures.
SFA shot an 46.7 percent from the field (28-60) and was 5-15 from beyond the three point arc. Hanks Rivers joined Burks in double figures with 10 points, but was only 3-9 from the floor. The Lumberjacks outrebounded the visitors 43-40.
SFA opens the season Nov. 22 against Houston Baptist University in the coliseum.
