
SFA Cross Country Teams Finish 7th at OSU

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Stillwater, Okla., Saturday to run in the Cowboy Jamboree. The Ladyjacks scored 176 points to finish seventh in a 19-team field, while the Lumberjacks scored 288 points to finish seventh in a 25-team field.
Ana Rodriguez paced the Ladyjacks with her time of 21:28. She finished the race fifth overall. Freshman Ashley Monteau was only 11 seconds back of Rodriguez's pace, finishing 10th overall. Classmate Julie Kole was the third Ladyjack to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 23:02 to finish 48th. Emily Hufstedler was only five second back of Kole to finish 54th overall. Junior Jessica Partin closed out the scoring for SFA as she crossed the line 59th with a time of 23:21.
Senior Mike Thompson was the Lumberjacks' top finisher recording a time of 25:00. His time was good enough to place 22nd overall. Thompson was followed by Cody Clark who finished 53rd overall with a time of 25:46. Sophomore Marc Farris was only two second back of Clark, finishing 55th overall. Rodney Joseph was the fourth Lumberjack to cross the finish line, recording a time of 26:06. Joseph was the 67th runner to cross the finish line. Senior Justin Meier closed out the scoring for SFA with his 91st place finish. Meier recorded a time of 26:38.
The SFA cross country teams return to action Friday Oct. 17, 2003, at the Pre-Conference meet. The race will take place in Huntsville, Texas.
